Introduction

In this course, you'll get your computer prepped up and running for Android app development. Whether you're on a Mac or Windows, by the end of this tutorial, you'll have Android Studio installed, an empty project created, and the project running on a simulator and optionally, on a physical device.

• Basic computer skills
• A computer running Mac OS or Windows

Step 1: Downloading Android Studio

⏱️ Estimated Time: 10 - 30 Minutes

• Navigate to the Android Studio download page.
• Download and install Android Studio following the on-screen instructions.

(Optional) Step 2: Downloading Command Line Tools

• If you didn’t install the command line tools with Android Studio, you can do it separately.
• Under Android Studio, navigate to Configure > SDK Manager > SDK Tools tab.
• Check "Android SDK Command-line Tools" and click "Apply".
